Grow me instead
The Grow Me Instead guide by the Ontario Invasive Plant Council is an incredible resource for gardeners and landscapers who want to protect our ecosystems. It highlights common invasive plants often found in gardens and offers beautiful, non-invasive native alternatives that support pollinators and biodiversity.
At Grow Native Halton, we fully support this initiative and encourage everyone to explore the guide. For folks in the Halton region, we suggest swapping out Periwinkle (Vinca minor) for Wild Ginger (Asarum canadense), and choosing New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) instead of Purple Loosestrife. Small changes in your garden can have a big impact!
